If you have ever had a meal in the South of France, you can safely assume that "Herbes de Provence" were involved.
So what are Herbes de Provence? The name simply means herbs of Provence. It is a mix of dry herbs that is widely used in France, but especially in the south-eastern region of Provence. Other French regions have their own blend such as "Fines Herbes".
Herbes de Provence usually include rosemary, oregano, savory, thyme and basil but can differ slightly. This herb mix can be used on meat, fish, vegetables, salad, rice or pasta. It can be added before cooking, after cooking, or added directly on the plate. It can be used as-is or finely ground. Our ceramic mills are loaded with the right mix of herbs, right in Provence, before being shipped to us. They are used to not only safely store the herbs but also allow dispensing them or finely grinding them!
